Reilly Staff Upskill & Learn Skills To Stay Safe When Working Around The Western Power Network Asset

--- Reilly Staff Playing It Safe Around Powerlines

Reilly Contractors were lucky enough to have Stephanie Hunt from Western Power and Justin Scotchbrook from DBYD come and do some talks at our Whiteman and Vale sites last week that were both informative and interesting.

Reilly Management would like to thank Stephanie (Western Power – Community Education Specialist) and Justin (DBYD - State Manager WA) for presenting their message to about 40 of our staff.

The information sessions covered:

  • When workers are most at risk;
  • What causes incidents and how to avoid them;
  • How to identify and/or obtain information on overhead powerlines and underground cables;
  • Safe approach distances and minimum clearances;
  • Duty of care;
  • What to do in an emergency;
  • How to safely evacuate plant or machinery in contact with a powerline or cable;
  • Reading and understanding DBYD One-calls.

Site and office based personnel who attended the info session reported back great feedback and felt that they got something from the session. Even Western Power trained personnel currently working around Western Power’s network found points of the session interesting and went away learning something new.

Once again, we would like to thank Steph and Justin for coming out to give the talks. See you soon when we get you back for round two.
